Tanzania
The National strategy for poverty reduction in Tanzania admits that peoples’ income poverty (basic needs and food poverty) has not been declined ever since the introduction of the first national strategy of poverty reduction in Tanzania. The level of poverty is expressed in GDP terms showing that in every 100 people in Tanzania 36 were poor in 2000. Planet Child Tanzania focuses on improving the livelihood of adolescents and youth who admittedly missed or dropped out from school for multiple reasons including, family poverty, early pregnancy, and lack of capital recognized as youth unemployment caused by lack of skills that were supposed to be provided in formal education systems and in vocational training centers. Chances for self-employment will be somehow sponsored by Planet Child to ensure this group access reliable skills capable for future self-employment creation, attaching youth to apprenticeship centers for skill development and further trainings as well as initiating opportunities such as self-help youth groups to get small revolving funds in groups and mechanize proper follow-up systems for monitoring and evaluation processes.
